Emma works on a variety of different research projects as part of her graduate assistantship in the Social Issues and Relations Lab. These projects explore the health and social support of sexual minority women in Appalachia, the intersectionality of minority stress, bisexual microaggressions, and working towards a more comprehensive understanding of sexual minority identity that accounts for self-identification, behavior, and attraction. Additionally, she has helped work on testing methods for targeted social media advertising of research studies to draw a more intersectional and inclusive pool of participants.
She has one project currently recruiting participants. The Spectrum Study aims to explore the multiple intersections of race, gender, and sexuality. Participants must be at least 18 years of age to complete the online and anonymous study. We estimate the study will take around 30 minutes to complete. Those who participate will be able to participate in a raffle for the chance to win one $50, one of two $25, or one of four $5 prizes in the form of an Amazon gift card. This study has been approved by the IRB at ETSU. If you have any questions, feel free to call 423-439-6693.
